Defeating Negativity: A Guaranteed Path to 100% Victory

Did you know the UN marked 15 July as World Youth Skills Day back in 2014 to highlight the power of skills in shaping young futures?

Fast forward to 2025, and we’re now celebrating 10 years of WYSD, focusing on AI and digital skills to empower youth for a dynamic world.

But here’s a reminder for this World Youth Skills Day: while we learn new skills to thrive outside, let’s also build the inner resilience to stay positive and rise above challenges.

World Youth Skills Day

Negative thoughts, fear, and self-doubt silently hold back even the most talented minds. But just like any skill, mental resilience can be developed. Inspired by Prernamurti Bharti Shriji and Shriji’s immense compassion towards all beings, this blog is a humble attempt to awaken the power within—to rise above fear, self-doubt, and mental turmoil. 100% victory over negativity is not only possible—it’s within your reach.

The Atharvaveda says — Drive away the mental weaknesses.

Mental weakness is extremely dangerous. Getting scared at the smallest of things, constantly being in a dilemma like “Should I do this or not?” while undertaking any task — all these are signs of a weak mind. A person with a weak mind finds success running far away from them. Thoughts like “I can’t do this,” “I won’t be able to succeed,” “What will happen now?” — such cowardly thoughts keep a person constantly anxious and disturbed.

Moreover, people around us often gift us negative and discouraging thoughts — “You can’t do this,” “You’re not capable,” “It’s beyond you,” “You’re not worthy of this,” etc. On top of that, a person themselves feeds their mind with negative thoughts and ends up validating the baseless criticisms of others.

But remember — you don’t truly lose until you yourself accept defeat.

No one else can defeat you unless you allow it. By giving importance to the negative voices of others, you end up defeating yourself.

John was also such a person. Repeated failures had left him disheartened in life. He had faced many emotional setbacks and traumas. Distressed by anxiety and worry, his mind was filled with countless doubts. He was always preoccupied and restless.

One day, he thought to himself —

“What is even left in life now? All I see throughout the day is hopelessness!

What’s the point of living a life full of helplessness?”

John was now consumed by hopelessness.

He thought, "I no longer wish to live in this world. Who knows when God will call me away—but why wait for that moment? I’ll end this painful life myself today. I’ll go to the chemist, buy poison, and be done with it all. There’s only one escape from all worldly suffering... and that is suicide."

With a sorrowful face and despair in his eyes, he made his way to a medical store, burdened by the weight of this dark resolve.

A person’s face often reflects the turmoil within. No matter how deeply hidden, intense emotions tend to reveal themselves. And a perceptive person—especially a seasoned shopkeeper who reads countless faces daily—can often sense more than words reveal.

The chemist took one look at John and grew suspicious. “Something is definitely wrong. This man is likely planning to end his life.”

“I need a bottle of bug poison,” John said in a dull, lifeless voice.

The chemist nodded calmly, walked inside, and cleverly filled a bottle with a harmless, colored liquid—harmless but made to look like poison—and handed it over to John.

Back home, John wrote a final letter addressed to his wife, and with trembling hands, drank what he believed to be a deadly poison. Then he lay down, waiting for death to slowly wrap him in darkness.

“Any moment now... I’ll die... it’s happening...” he thought, eyes closed, expecting the end.

But as time passed and nothing happened, he began to grow restless. Doubt crept in. Finally, he broke the silence himself, informing everyone around him,

"I’ve taken poison. I’m going to die soon..."

And just like that, panic spread.

“John has taken poison!”

“John is trying to kill himself!”

“Somebody save him!”

The whole place was in chaos.

John’s condition kept deteriorating.

Due to extreme mental distress and anxiety, his limbs were growing numb. His heart pounded violently — as if announcing, “This is it… this is the end!”

He was rushed to the hospital immediately. The doctors checked his pulse, examined his heart, and ran a series of chemical tests on his vomit, urine, and other bodily fluids. Everyone waited with bated breath, expecting the worst. There John lay, motionless on the hospital bed, appearing to be in his final moments — clinging to the edge of life.

Yet, strangely, he did not die.

Perplexed, the doctor finally examined the remaining liquid in the bottle John had brought. After conducting tests, he revealed the truth:

The substance John consumed was not poison at all. It was completely harmless. There is no trace of toxicity in his body.”

The chemist was summoned. He confirmed the same, saying,

To save John’s life, I deliberately gave him a non-toxic, colored medicine instead of real poison.”

Despite repeated explanations, John refused to believe the truth. He was trapped in a psychological prison of fear.

The dread of death had consumed every fiber of his being. He kept muttering:

“No… I’ve taken poison. I won’t survive this. My end is near…”

That poisonous thought had seeped into his very bloodstream. It had paralyzed his mind. His imagination became his executioner.

The result?

He remained hospitalized for months — not because of any physical ailment, but due to the sheer weight of imagined fear. His recovery took far longer than expected, all because of a false belief and deep mental imbalance.

This single episode nearly pushed John to death’s door — not because of a chemical toxin, but because of a psychological one.

And John is not alone. Countless people in the world silently suffer from the same afflictions — fear, anxiety, superstition, self-doubt — weakening them mentally, emotionally, and even physically.

This example clearly illustrates a powerful truth:

The fears, stress, assumptions, and pressures we harbor in our minds can gravely damage our daily well-being.

So now the important question arises:

How can we free ourselves from this mental weakness? How do we rise above mental weakness and reclaim our inner strength?

Begin with a simple yet powerful daily practice:

  1. Every morning, sit quietly for 15 to 20 minutes and focus your awareness on the Ajna Chakra — the point between the eyebrows, often called the third eye. Take slow, deep breaths, and as you exhale, gently chant “Om.”

This sacred sound vibration, combined with focused breathing, is one of the most effective and time-tested methods to awaken your inner power. It will fill you with a subtle, divine energy that lifts you beyond fear, doubt, and weakness. It cleanses your mind of negativity and strengthens you — both mentally and physically.

  1. Stay actively engaged in meaningful tasks. An idle mind becomes a breeding ground for unnecessary thoughts and restlessness. When you keep yourself constructively occupied, you give no room for anxiety, fear, or despair to take root.

  1. Surround yourself with people who uplift you — those who inspire courage, hope, and confidence. The company you keep profoundly influences the thoughts you think and the strength you feel.

Always remember —

You are not weak.

In truth, you are far stronger than you believe. The Divine has bestowed each of us with immense potential and inner strength.

We simply need to rediscover it within ourselves.

Let go of the thought that failure is the end. Choosing death in the face of difficulty is not a solution — it is a surrender. True success embraces those who, even after failing a thousand times, rise again with renewed determination and unwavering spirit.

Fall, but rise. Break, but rebuild. Be shaken, but never shattered.

Because every sunrise brings a chance — not just to live, but to truly begin again.
